PRIDE 2017

It is a tradition dating back to 1970, with the nation’s first Pride Parade in honor of the one-year anniversary of the Stonewall Riots. Here in June of 2017, there will be weeks filled with events and parades commencing around the nation in support of the LGBTQIA+ community. Be sure to check out the Pride events happening in your area (all cities are listed in this calendar).

To our readers in the DC area, DC/ NOVA PRIDE is THIS week, June 5th-11th, with the parade on Saturday, June 10th.  See you this weekend!

Holly Mason Badra is a queer, Kurdish American writer living in Northern Virginia. She is the curatorial editor of Sleeping in the Courtyard: Contemporary Kurdish Writers in Diaspora (The University of Arkansas Press). Her work has been published or is forthcoming in Mizna, The Markaz Review, Everything is Political, Poet Lore, Manoa, Rowayat, Meridian, Asymptote, The Arkansas International, The Northern Virginia Review, The Adroit Journal, The Rumpus, SWWIM Everyday, Circumference Magazine, CALYX, and elsewhere. She is the associate director of Women and Gender Studies at George Mason University. She reads for Poetry Daily and serves as the board vice-president of Henar Press.
